Ruffin Poole, an aide to former Gov. Mike Easley, was indicted by a federal grand jury and faces 51 charges including extortion and money laundering. He was considered the fixer in Easley's administration and the go-to person to get things done.

This week, News 14 Carolina's Tim Boyum spoke with political watchdog and Democratic strategist Joe Sinsheimer about Poole's first court appearance and what may come next. And former federal prosecutor Kieran Shanahan visited the studio to discuss the extent of the charges and what they might mean for Easley.
