Reef C. Ivey, II has been practicing law with Kieran Shanahan for more than ten years.  He spent 25 years in Fortune 500 corporate practice in major metropolitan areas in the northeastern United States before returning to North Carolina in the early 1990s.  During his time in corporate practice, Reef held positions with Manufacturer's Hanover Trust, PepsiCo, Inc., Wilson Sporting Goods, Wilson Foods, DairyLea Cooperative and Nutri-System, Inc.  He also served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City.  His love for North Carolina brought him home as a 50^th birthday present to himself.  Reef received his Bachelor of Science in 1965 from North Carolina State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina in 1968.  Reef's legal interests are centered on corporate and business law.  He also practices estate planning for high net worth clients.  In addition, Reef has a large practice involving regulatory and administrative agencies as they affect his corporate and business clients.  Reef does a tremendous amount of work with the agricultural section of North Carolina 's economy.

Reef has strong community ties throughout the State of North Carolina .  He serves on a number of charitable, civic and state boards.  Reef has taught classes at the Pace University School of Law, Rutgers University , Camden School of Law and the University of North Carolina School of Law.  Reef has been a member of the North Carolina State, Illinois State, Oklahoma State and New York State Bar Associations. 

Reef enjoys hunting, fishing, and golfing with many of his clients.
